v0.4.0: Initial open source release

This is the first release of vic2png on public Github. The following features are currently implemented:

  • Support for .VIC (Vicar) and .IMG (PDS3) raw raster formats
  • Support for .png, .jpg, and .tif output image formats with 8-bit quantization
  • Data range parameters are accepted (dnmin / dnmax)

Planned future features:

  • GeoTIFF support to add projection parameters when available in source raster metadata
  • 16-bit and floating-point PNG and TIFF support
  • Support for full Vicar image standard including files with binary prefixes
