Audit required / init / abstract / sealed / etc. in protocol types

Our structure of these types is inconsistent. Some properties are set, others are init. Some base classes are abstract, others aren't. Some types are sealed, others aren't. There doesn't appear to be a rhyme or reason to most of it.
