OLE object in docx output

I am trying to convert a small latex file to docx using pandoc. However, I find an unwanted closing "right )" when I convert a cases environment. Here is an example.

\begin{cases}
x, & x \geq 0;\\
-x, & \text{otherwise}
\end{cases}
$$

When I convert this using

pandoc --from latex --to docx --no-highlight -o cases.docx cases.tex

on my laptop (see below for the version information) I see a closing ")" in the maths display

. (I use libreoffice (v 7.4.7.2) On right-clicking the display and clicking on `edit', I can see the code for the OLE object, and it has a "right )" in it. (Please see the attached screen-shot

However, when I tried this in the online pandoc converter, the output did not have the closing ")". Am I missing some libraries in my installation? Or is this an issue with the pandoc I have?

Pandoc version information is below. Both pandoc and libreoffice came with the current Debian stable.

Note that you are running ancient versions of both pandoc and LibreOffice! Trying your example with pandoc v3.7.0.1 (latest) and opening the resulting cases.docx both with MS Word and LibreOffice (version 25.2.3.2), I'm not able to reproduce this.
