help with custom build hooks

We're looking to deploy a development project and can't seem to find documentation on how to set up custom build hooks on our own.

Most of the guides and documentation reference resources like netlify and gatsby cloud, but we're not looking to use those services, we're looking to host the gatsby site on our own cloud servers, but need the site to auto-update/build when new posts/pages are added.

If someone could point me in the right direction on how to go about this, it would be greatly appreciated!
