  • I have checked for a similar issue and sure it hasn't been reported before.

System is prevented from sleeping by EqMac

Steps to Reproduce
Load EqMac

Expected behaviour
Screen saver activates after 1 minute

Setup information:

  • Benq monitor speakers via USB-C
  • macOS Version: latest
  • eqMac Version latest

Additional information
I sorted in Activity Monitor by 'preventing sleep' and there were 4 such processes. I quit EqMac and the screensaver started a minute later.

Same problem in a mid 2012 Macbook Pro with Ventura 13.6.6.
If I'm using Youtube when I close the screen, the music will stop for a second and then continue playing but without applying the equalizer. After 5 to 10 seconds the eq will start working again.
If I focus on the Activity Monitor it will enter into sleep mode. If I focus on Firefox it will prevent to sleep.

This issue also applies to me.

Setup information
New Mac Mini M4 with 32GB RAM
Two Apple Studio Displays using built-in speakers
EQMac latest version

Steps to Reproduce
Have EqMac active, not necessary to play music
Issue Sleep command from Apple menu

More info
Issueing the sleep command sleeps the monitors but leaves the system active, as evident from the display fans that keep spinning endlessly. Only after quitting EQmac, the system sleeps as it should, and the fans stop seconds after the screens go black. I also tried creating a new User Profile on the Mac, but sure enough, EQMac behaves the same.

The update dialog reads the following:
"eqMac v1.8.7 is currently the newest version available. (You are currently running version v1.8.8"
