Hi,
First, thanks and 👏 for this awesome projects! Binder is amazing!

I saw that pip is complaining while installing modules:

�[91mYou are using pip version 8.1.2, however version 9.0.1 is available. You should consider upgrading via the 'pip install --upgrade pip' command. �[0m

So, could you (try to) upgrade pip (and in the same time, the main packages installed for all users)?
