Increase the number of "Featured Publications"

I have tried to add the parameter count under the relevant block in _index.md. It works for count <= 5 but does not work to increase it above 5, which leads me to believe that somewhere there is a hardcoded number to limit it to 5. Can someone help me figure this out?

I have the same issue. The old version of academic-cv template can define the count of Featured Publications.
